Students Will Know & Be Able To Do: Explain the difference between AND, OR, NOT logic gates. Read and fill out a Truth Table. Convert a Logical Expression in to Gate Diagrams. Convert a Logical Expression in to a Truth Table.

Introduction

Introduction: This lesson is designed to teach students about Digital Logic.  AND, OR, INV, XOR, NAND, NOR.  This lesson includes lecture and hands on activities to practice reading logical equations, mapping logic gate functions, and reading and writing truth tables. Then building circuits...

Objective: Students will be able to explain the difference between AND, OR, NOT logic gates. They will be able to read and fill out a Truth Table.  They will be able to convert a Logical Expression in to Gate Diagrams and convert a Logical Expression in to a Truth Table.  

Prior Knowledge: Students should understand Binary (base 2) number system. They should know how to count in Binary.   How to convert from Decimal 2 Binary.  How to convert from Binary 2 Decimal.  They should know how to Add and Multiply in Binary.

How I Teach This: I start by giving my students an Entry Ticket where they can spend 5-6 min looking at a site to give them an introduction to... 

Then I start the slide presentation, where I work through a lecture (15-30 min)...

and then I work a few Modeled or Guided Instruction...

Then I point them to a Quiz...
