Design Competition Planning: Flashlight Housing

by

Students will now be given the challenge of PLANNING the redesign of their own FLASHLIGHT HOUSING part in 3D Solid Modeling CAD software. Tomorrow we'll make the actual changes.

NOTE: The first two lessons in this project dealt with the BATTERY and BATTERY PLATE. The instructor COULD choose to address this challenge of design creativity with either of those two parts. However, it would be more beneficial to apply this lesson to the HOUSING which lends itself to design changes and creativity. So the class would first complete all EIGHT parts for the flashlight and then attempt this design challenge.

This should be a very fun exercise!!!

Introduction

This is a design competition!! Students will be competing for the BEST DESIGN AWARD for their revised FLASHLIGHT HOUSING. This lesson will focus on the PLANNING of the design changes. In the next lesson we will make the changes.

Here is a picture of the full flashlight assembly:

This design competition will address the need for a redesign of the HOUSING (item #1 in the picture above).
