Research and Last Words (ELA)

by

Introduction

Students choose one photograph that represents their social justice topic. They will be using these photographs to write in their English class and in their art classes where they will impose photographs of themselves onto the original image. Possible topics will be given to students as a jumping off point, but they are free to come up with other topics that correlate with photographs. All topics and photos must be teacher approved. They will also need to research their topics and write a mini research paper (500 words). In order to present the photograph and its research, students should choose one section of the paper to read aloud in class as they display their photographs on the projector. The final assignment will be to write a letter as if the student is the person in the photograph or a witness to the incident portrayed in the photograph.
