This lesson is the first in a series of lessons focusing on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Students will participate in a sleep survey which will help determine if they are sleep deprived. The physiological and psychological impacts of sleep deprivation are reviewed. Additionally, the hours of sleep required by age is presented and discussed.
Not sleeping enough and not sleeping well is not okay. As a matter of fact, there is quite a price to pay. Chronic sleep deprivation, for whatever reason, significantly affects ones health, performance, safety, and pocketbook. The amount of sleep needed and the negative effects to health caused by lack of sleep will be explored.
