Introduction

Lesson Two - Presentation of Sonnet Innovations

In this lesson students will practice critical analysis similar to that required in the engineering process, of differentiating the quality of multiple design concepts through the iterative presentation of their sonnet innovations, culminating in choosing the best design concept sonnet innovation. Through the lesson students will practice the process of critical iterative analysis to determine the best design concept represented in their sonnet innovations.

The students will present their sonnet innovations in small groups, checking for the required design requirements, and then choosing the best as groups, and then as a class.

  • Objective - Students will analyze a variety of design concept sonnet innovations to differentiate which ones follow the design requirements (criteria & constraints) correctly and which one is the best qualitatively in terms of theme and artistry.
  • Objective - Students will analyze a new poem on demand, analyzing literary elements similar to those practiced in the study of "America" in lesson one and the creation of their own sonnet for lesson two, to determine the theme of the work and to appreciate its artistry.
  • Essential Question - How does the development of a sonnet innovation using specific design requirements create a product of quality and artistry?
