The History and Future of SEO


The purpose of this lesson is to introduce the students to the history and future of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) while giving them some hands-on experience with on-page optimizations.


Lesson 1 of 4

Understanding the criteria to create a high-quality website the performs well in search engines is critical to the design and development process. 

Teachers, for this lab you will need access to a mobile device with voice-driven search (like an iphone with Siri) and the CamFind app. Students are also going to need access to the internet and optionally a cell phone or other mobile device to complete this lesson. 

Students will learn:

  • Basic understanding of SEO and how it is applied in web development
  • How AI is transforming organic search as we know it
  • How branding and UX will take a more prominent role in organic search results
  • How ubiquitous screens will change the search landscape
  • How other areas of innovation will drastically impact SEO

All instruction occurs in the computer lab, and students will need to login to their computers. Students are expected to begin the login process as soon as they enter the classroom, as has been established by classroom routines.
