Introduction

Students will learn vaccination protocol for various species, proper handling of vaccines and antibiotics, types of syringes and needles as well as successful administration of various injections. Students should have knowledge about different types of syringes and needles previous to the lesson.

  • Students will be able to select the proper vaccine as a preventative for a disease or the proper antibiotic for the treatment of a disease or infection, given a selection of samples.
  • Students will be able to read the label and follow the correct injection site for the specific medicine.
  • Students will be able to select the correct gauge and length of needle for quality assurance purposes.
  • Students will identify various syringes, multi-dosers and vaccination guns and desribe their best use (Vaccinating vs. injections)
  • Students will administer several subcutaneous , intramuscular, and intraveineous injections in the correct area with the correct needle.
