What is an Organ Donor?

This lesson will help the student better understand the importance of organ and tissue donation. Lesson 1 of 4.

Introduction

There comes a time when decisions should be made. There are so many people waiting on a donor list.  One organ donor can save 8 lives.  What organs can be donated? Did you know you can also donate tissues? What tissues can be donated? 

In this introductory lesson (1 of 4), students will explore what organs and tissues can used to help save a life.  We will go over the what students know about organ donation and how will organs be used.  There will be a video about the Ray Of Hope and how a student saved four people's lives.  This project will help students understand the importance of organ donation.  At the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a letter to their teacher on how they feel about organ donation.
