"Working For a Living"

Introduction

As students are nearing the end of their high school career it is critical that they leave our CTE programs with portfolio items that will help them in achieving success in their futures. One of the most important documents every student should have knowledge about is a job application. Your students will have a huge advantage over the average high school student by learning about and creating professional documents that are a part of any business and their hiring process. In addition, all students should have a professional resume and accompanying reference page.

Since many of your students have probably already created a resume and reference page in your class or another; this activity will only provide the necessary documents for students to use with a few basic suggestions. Since it is very difficult to teach someone how to teach document creation; you will be given the necessary templates, which you can utilize them as you see fit in your classroom.

The primary project in this entire unit will be creating a media reel; however, we must not forget these important documents and pieces that will accompany a student's media reel.
