Description
This project introduces students to Human Anatomy, specifically the differences that exist between males and females. The project takes the human dimensions, body planes, and body systems and looks at them. The human dimensions, body planes are measured and are analyzed with scatter plots and coordinates in math class. The anatomy terminology and coordinate system is reinforced when students create a program in Scratch.
The assessment will consist of two parts. One part will be a written essay where the students will analyze Da Vinci’s picture. The second part the students will be given a potato and numbered pins. The students will have to use the language that they used in previous lesson (planes, regions, etc.) and label accordingly.
This will be supported in the mathematics classroom through mathematical connections and through IT with a Scratch game that will help them study the Anatomy.
Students will have the skills needed to identify proper anatomical terms. Students will be able to simply mathematical expressions and recognize patterns to develop the Golden Ratio, predict outcomes, and identify points, lines and planes. Students will obtain basic programming skills needed to write code.
The Human Anatomy class will introduce students to anatomy, anatomical language, and anatomical proportions. The mathematics class will use ratios & proportions, planes, cross-sections, and shapes, along with coordinates, domain & range while analyzing the human anatomy. The CTE class is using programming language to help identify anatomy terminology and mathematical coordinates.
Relevant careers would will be in the Health & Science along with the Computer Science and Programming industry.
In addition to the CTE/STEM focus of the unit/project lessons, educators will find academic lessons in Human Anatomy and Mathematics that supplement the primary core area of study.
